Welcome

Hello, I’m Dr. Michael Shankleman, an HCPC-registered clinical psychologist based in North London. If you're feeling overwhelmed by the pressures of a busy life and are looking for support, I offer online therapy services to help you manage anxiety, low mood, and the emotional impact of health conditions. My aim is to create a calm, thoughtful space where we can reflect on what matters most to you and explore how you can feel more grounded and in control.

I use approaches like narrative therapy, ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and Compassion-Focused Therapy. These approaches help us explore the stories and values that shape you, while also building self-compassion and resilience. I believe in seeing the person behind the problem, helping you find your own strength and meaning, even during tough times.

My style is open, non-judgmental, and grounded in the belief that therapy is a collaboration. I work entirely online, so our sessions can take place in a location that suits you. Together, we’ll create a therapeutic space that supports and helps you make the changes you want to make in your life.

Anxiety

Anxiety can manifest in many ways, whether it’s persistent worry, a sense of dread, or physical symptoms that seem to come out of nowhere. My approach is to work with you to uncover the sources and triggers of your anxiety, as well as the patterns that may keep it active in your life. Together, we look at ways to gradually reduce the hold anxiety has on your day-to-day experiences, focusing on tools and strategies that help you navigate stressful situations with a greater sense of control and calm. 

Self-esteem and Confidence

Self-esteem and confidence can be deeply affected by many aspects of life, whether it’s the demands of work, personal challenges, or experiences that have left a lasting impact. Together, we explore what has shaped your view of yourself and the unique strengths that may not yet feel fully accessible. 

Health Challenges

Living with a health condition can impact your life in many ways. It might feel like work or studies are harder to balance, or that relationships with family, friends, or partners have shifted. You may notice changes in how you feel about yourself, or find it harder to experience joy and hope about the future.
